Well known detective series Sherlock Holmes is set to make a new, more modern comeback. The new work "Baker Street Irregulars" aims to reinvent Holmes's appeal again for a modern audience.

Dublin is to double up as London in the BBC drama. Mount Street is to be transformed into the famous Baker Street for the two part series that will be filmed around the city.

It stars award winning Jonathan Pryce ("Tomorrow Never Dies" and "Pirates of the Caribbean") as Sherlock Holmes and Bill Patterson ("Auf Wiedersehen Pet") as his companion Dr. Watson.

The series will be shooting for six weeks in various locations around the city with a large Irish input and 300 Irish extras. It is a major boost for the Irish Film industry. There are around 11 Irish head departments working on the series.

The city is also poised to attract many other lucrative productions over the coming months. Film Dublin has expanded from eight members to include 29 organisations. The Film Dublin partnership ensures that Ireland capital city remains an attractive base for local and international film and television production.
