Dublin City Business Association Launches Three Year Marketing Campaign

Thursday the 2nd of March 2006

Dublin City Business Association (DCBA) today announced details of a three-year marketing campaign for the city centre. Targeting the domestic market, €1.5 million will be invested in the campaign promoting the cultural, leisure and retail offering of Dublin City Centre.

The campaign's television ad entitled 'Yours' goes on air Thursday, 8th June for the first time and depicts a romantic experience of Dublin City Centre, browsing through bookstores, bumping into old friends, finding the perfect dress, and includes such landmarks as the Spire, the Ha'Penny Bridge, etc.

According to Tom Coffey, CEO of DCBA, "Dublin City Centre has changed so much in recent years, it looks better than it has ever done and we want to remind people about its unique atmosphere and character and to encourage them to rediscover the city as it is today".

The advertising campaign has been devised by QMP Publicis and depicts the array of department stores, boutiques, restaurants and amenities, the numerous ways of getting in to and around town and the ability to browse our entire city in an afternoon. The campaign also includes radio advertising, buses, bus stops, railway stations, indoor and banner advertising and public relations. The brand strapline 'Dublin. Make the City Yours!' is carried throughout all campaign elements.

"There are 1.7 million people living in the greater Dublin area and many of these people are new to our Capital including a large number of non-nationals. Our objective is also to educate and inform people about what the city has to offer. We want them to 'Make the City Theirs!'" added Mr. Coffey.

This is the second three-year marketing campaign devised by the DCBA. The first, which concluded in December 2005, won the HSMAI Domestic Marketing Campaign award for its extensive advertising and public relations programme.
