DCBA calls for Reduction in Business Rates of 5%
Monday the 1st of June 2009
The alleged promise by Taoiseach B Cowen TD to freeze business rates in every local authority with a FF majority after the next local election is entirely inadequate.
The increase of half percent on VAT before Christmas is only one example of dreadful miss-management by this FF/Green Government.
"Business rates should be reduced by 5% in line with deflation. After that there is a need to have a fundamental review of how local government is managed". Said DCBA Chairman David McCormick.
DCBA calls on all candidates to publish their tax clearance certificate and their Register of Interests before the vote in June.
Voters are entitled to know before they vote who and what they are voting for.
After the local election all councillors' salaries and expenses should be published monthly on the Dept of Environment web site.
