Carbon Output must be near Zero
Saturday the 10th of May 2008
Using advanced computer models scientists
from countries including Canada, Germany and the USA say that the world
must bring down carbon emissions down to near zero to keep global
temperatures from rising further.
Industrial and developing countries must wean themselves off fossil fuels by mid 21st century in order to prevent warming that could change precipitation
patterns and dry up sources of water worldwide. The Earth has already
warmed by 076 Celsius above pre-industrial levels. Most scientists warn
that a temperature rise of 2 Celsius could have serious consequences.
Zero goal emissions appears well beyond the reach of politicians here and abroad.
