Dublin - The Walking City

Dublin city centre is a relatively compact area and everywhere is within easy walking distance. The inner suburbs where there are several historic visitor centres, beautiful parks and waterside paths, are also reachable by walking or by taking a short bus journey, while the countryside's wondeful scenery and many recommended walking opportunities are easily reached by DART, the rapid rail system and public buses.

The way to get to know any city is to walk around it. Not only will visitors enjoy exploring the many hidden treasures of the city, but so too its residents. Walking the streets brings life to those streets and also helps to make them more secure, while the observations of passers-by can encourage the raising of environmental standards.

The new City Board Walk has greatly enhanced the enjoyment of walking in Dublin, as have the many restaurants offering alfresco dining.
